Import Your Dog Breeding Records From Almost Any File With Buddy

Every breeder has the folder. DNA panels, OFA certificates, vet summaries, registration papers, and a spreadsheet from whatever software you ran before. It all lives on your desktop, in your email, in a drawer. Getting it into one clean system is the job nobody wants to sit down and do. For a lot of breeders, it's the reason they never switch software at all.

So we built the thing that does it for you. Drop almost any file on Buddy, and it pulls the data into your account.

Drop the file, Buddy does the reading

Give Buddy a file and it works out what's in it. A spreadsheet in your own layout, no template required. An Embark or OFA report. A registration certificate. A vaccine record. Even a photo of a paper pedigree chart. Buddy reads the document, figures out which dog, litter, or person it belongs to, and turns it into real records.

You can start an import from wherever you already are:

• Drop a file right onto Buddy in the chat, or click the paperclip
• Open Import with Buddy on the Dogs page
• Use the Import with Buddy button on any dog's profile to file everything straight to that dog
• Go to Buddy Intake in the menu for the full screen

You see everything before it saves

Nothing touches your account until you say so. Buddy reads the file, then shows you a plan: the new records it will add, the blanks it can fill in like a missing registration number or microchip, and where it will file the document itself.

You look it over. Edit any step, skip the ones you don't want, and answer anything Buddy asks about. When you're happy, you hit Approve & Import. That's the moment anything gets written.

Changed your mind after the fact? Open the import and click Undo. Everything it created or changed is reversed. One click.

Pedigree charts come in as a family tree

This is the part breeders do a double take on. Drop a pedigree chart and Buddy reads the whole thing, then lays it out as a family tree in the same shape as the paper you gave it. The subject dog links to her record, and every ancestor comes in as a reference entry so your dog list stays clean. You decide which ones, if any, become full dogs in your program.

Built so it can't make a mess

A tool that writes to your records has to be careful, so Buddy is.

• It only fills in blanks. Anything you've already entered stays exactly as you have it.
• If a document looks like it belongs to a different dog than the one you're importing to, Buddy warns you before applying anything.
• Re-import the same file and you won't get doubles. Buddy recognizes records it already added.
• You approve every import, and you can undo any of them.

It's already on your plan

Import with Buddy is included on every BreederBuddy plan, with a monthly number of imports that scales with your plan. The counter shows how many you have left before you start.
