Campaigns
Video walkthrough: Watch on Loom (link coming soon)
Campaigns is where you write and send email to your buyers yourself, from BreederBuddy, using your own records as the address book. There are two kinds: a series (a run of emails timed to each buyer’s go-home day) and a one-time email (one message, sent once, to a group you pick). This article covers setup and one-time emails. Series have their own article: Email Series.
What You Can Do Here
- Send one email to a waitlist, a litter’s buyers, past buyers, applicants, or everyone
- Start from a template written for breeders, or from a blank email
- Add your buyer’s first name, your kennel name and more with one click
- Send yourself a test before anyone else sees it
- Send now or schedule for later
- See how many were delivered, and read the replies in your Inbox
- Set up the Go-home series and let BreederBuddy start it when a buyer reserves a puppy
How It Works
Go to Communications in the left menu and click the Campaigns tab. At the top you choose Series or One-time emails; everything below changes to match. Before your first send
Two things have to be in place, and the Overview tab keeps a checklist until they are:- Your sending domain. Campaign emails go out from your own website domain, like
yourkennel.com, so they land in inboxes instead of spam folders. On the Campaigns tab, type your domain in Your sending domain and click Use this domain. You’ll see two or three records to add where you manage your domain (your registrar or hosting company). Add them, then click Check again. It can take a few hours for the email service to confirm the records; you don’t need to stay on the page. When it’s done the card shrinks to one line: Sending from yourkennel.com. Stuck on this step? Click Chat with us under the card and we’ll add the records with you. - Your business address. Anti-spam law requires a mailing address in every marketing email. Add it once at Settings → Preferences and BreederBuddy puts it in the footer for you.
Send a one-time email
- On the Campaigns tab, click One-time emails.
- Pick a template under Start with a template: Announce a litter, Puppies available, Waitlist update, Catch up with puppy families or Program news. Each one fills in the audience and the first words. Or click Start from a blank email.
- Check Who gets it. The audience comes from your own records: a waitlist, the buyers of a litter, past buyers, applicants, a contact type, or everyone. Add a person by name with Add someone, or remove one with the × next to their name. The count updates as you go.
- Write your Subject and the email. Click a name under Insert (for example First name or Kennel name) to drop it into the text; each buyer sees their own name when it sends.
- Under How it looks, pick Personal (reads like a note from you), Clean (your kennel name up top) or Branded (your logo and a card layout), then Left or Centered.
- Click Send me a test. The email arrives in your own inbox exactly as a buyer would see it, with sample names filled in.
- Click Review and send, read the email one more time, and click Send to 24 people now. Or click Schedule for later, pick a date and time, and click Schedule send. The email appears under Sent and drafts.
What every email includes
BreederBuddy adds your business address and an unsubscribe link to the footer of every campaign email. Anyone who unsubscribes, or whose address bounces, is skipped on every future send without you doing anything. Your automatic emails (receipts, invoices, application replies) are not affected.See what happened
Under Sent and drafts, each sent email shows Recipients and Delivered. Click View on a sent or scheduled email to see it as it went out and what happened with each person: delivered, bounced, unsubscribed or skipped. Send again there copies it into a new draft with the same audience, ready to change before you send. Every individual send also appears on the Activity tab with its status. Replies land on the Inbox tab, attached to the buyer’s contact record. While you pick an audience, the count is the number of people the email will reach: anyone who unsubscribed or whose address bounced is listed with a label and left out of the count.Key Terms
