Account Settings

Video walkthrough: Watch on Loom (link coming soon)

The Settings page is home base for your account: your profile, your team, your subscription, and the preferences that shape how BreederBuddy works for your program. This page covers the account questions we hear most often.

What You Can Do Here

  • Update your name and phone number under My Profile
  • Invite additional users to your account under User Administration
  • Control what secondary users can and can’t see
  • Manage the breed list that powers your breed dropdowns
  • Set a Default Breed so new dog profiles prefill automatically
  • Set your time zone, preferred currency, business address, and registration field labels
  • Choose which sections show on your Dashboard
  • Hide birthdays (and other event types) on your Calendar
  • Delete your account

How It Works

To open Settings, click your profile picture in the top-right corner and choose Settings, or click Settings at the bottom of the left menu under Configuration. Settings is organized into groups — Account (My Profile, Two-Factor Auth, Subscription), Payment Processing (Stripe, Other Payment Methods), Team (User Administration, Co-owners, Usage Limits), Customize (Branding & Colors, Preferences), and Developer / Website (Public API) — each with its own tabs.

Your Subscription, Plan, and Receipts

Open Settings → Subscription (under the Account group):
  • Your plan is shown in the Current plan card — Trial, Standard, Pro, or Signature — with an upgrade button and a Compare plans link if you want to see what’s included.
  • Billing, receipts, and card changes all live behind the Stripe billing portal → button in the Manage your billing box at the top of the page. It opens your secure billing page where you can update your card, download every past invoice/receipt for your BreederBuddy subscription, and change or cancel your plan. (Receipts for your own subscription are only there — the Invoices page in the app is for invoices you send your buyers.)
  • There’s also a Referral Program section with your personal referral link (you and the breeder you refer each get $5/month off), and a Have a Promo Code? box.

Switching Your Program Between Dogs and Cats

You can switch the species wording for your whole program yourself:
  1. Open Settings → Preferences (under Customize).
  2. In the Species section, pick Dog or Cat.
  3. Confirm in the Confirm species change window — tick the acknowledgment and click Yes, change species.
Everything in the app switches vocabulary (litters become litters of kittens, Whelping Watch becomes Queening Watch, and so on). One program can’t mix both species at once — if you breed dogs and cats, reach out through the support chat to talk through options.

Changing Your Kennel / Breeding Program Name

Your kennel name (shown at the top of Settings and used on invoices, contracts, and emails) is set when you first join BreederBuddy, in the Breeding Program Name field of the welcome setup. There isn’t currently a field in Settings to rename it yourself afterward. If you need your kennel, company, or organization name changed, just send us a message through the chat in the bottom right corner — we’ll update it for you right away. You can change these yourself:
  • The kennel name on your website: click My Website in the left menu, open the Brand tab, and edit Kennel name. This changes your website only.
  • Your kennel’s logo: at the top of the Settings page, click the camera button on the profile picture to upload a new one. This logo appears at the top of your buyer portal and in the emails BreederBuddy sends your buyers.

Changing Your Name

Your own first and last name (the name shown in the top right corner) is separate from your kennel name.
  1. Open Settings → My Profile.
  2. Change First Name or Last Name. (Phone Number is required too.)
  3. Click Save. You’ll see “Profile updated.”
Your sign-in email can’t be changed here. See Login & Account Access for how to change it.

Branding Colors for Your Buyer Portal and Emails

  1. Open Settings → Branding & Colors (under Customize).
  2. Under Buyer Portal Theme, pick the Banner & Active Tab Color and Banner & Active Tab Text color. The preview shows how your buyer portal will look.
  3. Under Email Button Colors, pick the Button Background and Button Text colors. These apply to the buttons in every email BreederBuddy sends for you, like Pay Now.
  4. Save each section. You’ll see “Updated buyer portal colors.” or “Updated email button colors.”

Adding Team Members (Additional Users)

Yes — you can share your account with helpers or family members.
  1. Open Settings → User Administration (under the Team group).
  2. Click Invite User.
  3. Enter their email in the User Email field and send the invite. They’ll receive an invite email.
  4. The invite is valid for 24 hours. Make sure the person is logged out of BreederBuddy on the device they’ll use to accept it.
  5. Their invite appears under Pending & Past Invites, where you can Revoke it anytime before it’s accepted.
There are two roles: Admin and Secondary user. Secondary users can help manage your account but can’t access financial areas by default. In the User Roles section, admins can adjust this with three toggles:
  • Hide invoice totals from secondary users
  • Allow secondary users to access Income Report
  • Allow secondary users to open Stripe Dashboard
You can change a user’s role with the dropdown next to their name, or remove a secondary user with the trash button. The primary user can’t be removed.

Where Breed Options Come From

The Breed dropdown you see when adding a dog is your own saved breed list — not a fixed master list. You control it:
  1. When adding or editing a dog, click Manage Breeds next to the Breed field.
  2. In the Manage Breeds window, type a breed into Add a new breed and click Add Breed.
  3. The new breed is now available in the dropdown for every dog.
  4. To remove one, click Delete next to it. This clears the breed on any dogs currently set to it.
Breeds you entered during your welcome setup were added to this list automatically. You can also set a Default Breed under Settings → Preferences (in the Customize group) so new dog and pedigree forms prefill it for you.

Other Preferences

Settings → Preferences also holds:
  • Time Zone and Preferred Currency for your account. Preferred Currency sets the default currency for new invoices, deposits, and payment checkouts, and dog Sale Price fields show it in their label (for example, Sale Price (USD)). BreederBuddy doesn’t convert amounts, so check prices you’ve already entered after changing it.
  • Registration Field Labels — rename the two registration number fields to match your registries
  • Business Address
  • Go-home age — how many weeks after birth your puppies usually go home. It estimates every litter’s go-home date until you set one on the litter
  • When a puppy gets a buyer — whether BreederBuddy asks before marking a puppy Reserved when you set its owner (Ask me each time, the default) or does it on its own (Mark it Reserved automatically). The ask has a checkbox that flips this for you
  • Workspace behavior — turn on Remember page filters to keep your search, filters, sorting, and view when you come back to pages like Dogs, Contacts, Litters, and reports
  • Dog display — turn on Call name first to show call names before registered names
  • Health estimates — an optional spay/neuter estimate
  • Waitlist deposit deadlines — how long buyers have to pay a deposit, reminders, and what happens when a deadline passes

Customizing the Dashboard

You can choose which sections appear on your Dashboard:
  1. Click Dashboard at the top of the left menu.
  2. Click the sliders icon at the top of the page (it says Manage dashboard sections when you hover over it).
  3. In the Manage Dashboard window, tick the sections you want to see and untick the ones you don’t — including Buddy (AI assistant) and Show onboarding checklist.
  4. Click Save changes. Your Dashboard updates right away.
The order of the sections is fixed. See Your Dashboard for details on each section.

Hiding Birthdays on the Calendar

  1. Go to Calendar in the left menu.
  2. Find the filter panel beside the calendar. On a phone or small screen, tap Filters to open it.
  3. Untick Birthdays. Birthdays disappear from the calendar.
  4. This preference is saved to your account, so birthdays stay hidden until you tick it again.
In the same panel you can untick other event types (like Heat Cycles, Medical & Care Tasks, or Finances) to hide them on this device, and click Show all to bring everything back.

Deleting Your Account

  1. Open Settings → My Profile.
  2. Scroll down to the Delete account section and click Delete my account.
  3. Read the warning. If you only want to stop paying, close the window and cancel your subscription from Settings → Subscription instead — your data stays safe.
  4. To go ahead, type DELETE in the box and confirm.
This can’t be undone. If you’re the account owner, it cancels your subscription, takes your public website offline, and removes every login; your records are locked, and you can email support@breederbuddy.com if you also want them permanently erased. If you’re a team member, it only removes your own login — the account and its records aren’t affected.

Tips & Common Questions

Not yet — the name is set during your initial setup. Message us in the chat and we’ll change it for you.
Settings → Subscription → Stripe billing portal. Every payment you’ve made for your subscription is there to view or download. The Invoices page in the left menu is different — that’s for invoices you send your buyers.
Current prices for each plan are shown on Settings → Subscription, with a full side-by-side on the Compare plans page. See Subscription & Billing for how trials, upgrades, and annual billing work.
Yes. Invite the second person from Settings → User Administration. Once they’ve joined, pick Admin in the dropdown next to their name. Admins have full control, including billing and financial areas. You can’t change your own role, so another Admin has to do that for you.
Yes. Tap your round picture in the top right, then Settings. Every tab, including User Administration, works the same on a phone.
Yes. Switch your program to cats in Settings → Preferences under Species, and the whole app uses cat wording (Cats, Kittens, Cattery, Queening Watch).
Not by default. Secondary users can’t open the Stripe Dashboard or Income Report unless you switch those on in the User Roles toggles, and you can also hide invoice totals from them.
