# Your Website & Online Presence

> Get a breeder website that stays in sync with your dogs, litters, and available puppies automatically. Learn your website options, where to find Get a website and My Website, and how Public, Archived, and puppy Available or Reserved status decide what shows on your site.

# Your Website & Online Presence

Most breeders spend hours keeping their website up to date — editing puppy availability, adding new litters, updating dog profiles. BreederBuddy eliminates all of that. Your website connects directly to your data, so when you update something in the app, your site reflects it automatically.

## How It Works

BreederBuddy powers your website behind the scenes. Every dog you add, every litter you plan, every puppy you mark available — it all shows up on your website without you touching it. You run your program in one place and your website just stays current.

There are three ways to get set up:

**Template website** — Build it yourself: pick a template, fill in each section of your site, publish. No coding, nothing to install. Included with the Pro plan.

**Custom branding** — The template experience with a theme designed for your program only. \$800 one-time, on the Pro plan.

**Signature build** — A custom site designed and built by hand. $400 to $4,000 one-time, on the Signature plan (\$80/month, in place of Pro). Highly customized, advanced sites get custom pricing.

To get started:

1. In the left menu, under **Your Online Presence**, open **Website** and click [**Get a website**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/website).
2. Look through the example sites and options.
3. Click **Build my website**, pick a template, and fill in your site section by section on **My Website**.

Once your site is published, the same spot in the left menu shows [**My Website**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/website/builder) instead. That's where you edit your live site. Signature customers see **Website Walkthrough** there while we build their custom site. Prefer to talk it through? Reach out through the chat and we'll walk you through your options. If you already have a WordPress site you love, the BreederBuddy plugin can show your live dogs and litters there instead.

## What Shows On Your Website

Three things decide whether a dog or litter appears on your site, and they always work the same way. The quickest place to check them is [**Content Manager**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/display) in the left menu, which shows a **Public** or **Hidden** toggle on every dog and litter.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Public** | The on/off switch. If **Public** is off, nothing about that dog or litter reaches your website. |
| **Archived** | Archiving takes a dog or litter off your website, even if **Public** is still on. Use this when a litter is finished and you want it gone from the site. |
| **Status** | On each puppy, **Available** or **Reserved** is what your site reads. Any puppy marked **Available** makes its litter show as available. When every puppy is spoken for, the litter shows as fully reserved. |

The puppies decide availability, not the litter. If you mark one puppy **Available**, your website shows that puppy and its litter as available — even if you already set the litter itself to **Completed**.

Changes take about a minute to appear on your site. If you don't see an update after a few minutes, refresh the page.

> **A finished litter is still showing on my site. How do I remove it?**
>
> Archive it. Open the litter, click **Archive litter**, and it comes off your website within a minute or two. Setting the status to **Completed** on its own keeps it on the site as a past litter.

> **I marked a puppy available but my site still says all reserved. Why?**
>
> Check that the puppy's status is **Available** and that the puppy isn't archived. Archived puppies never count as available, because archiving means the puppy has gone home.

> **My WordPress site has a Previous Puppies section. Do archived puppies show there?**
>
> Yes, as long as the puppy is still marked **Public**. WordPress sites with the BreederBuddy plugin keep archived dogs and label them as archived, so a Previous Puppies section can show them. If you want an archived dog gone from your WordPress site entirely, turn off **Public**.

> **Can my site have a Previous Puppies page, or group my dogs another way?**
>
> Yes. Ask Buddy in **Edit your website**: "put our past litters on their own page with each puppy's photo", "retired dogs on their own page", "group my dogs by breed". Buddy picks the dogs or puppies from your records, so new ones join by themselves. Only **Public** dogs and puppies ever show. A page of puppies that went home can include archived puppies if you ask for that; they show on that page only, every card is marked so nobody mistakes them for available puppies, and they stay off the rest of your site.

> **Does archiving delete anything?**
>
> No. Archived dogs and litters keep every record and stay searchable in your account. Archiving only takes them out of your default lists and off your website.
