# Other Income

> Log money that doesn't come from a puppy invoice: track stud service payments and stud fees, commission income, affiliate commissions, referral fees, merchandise, and training income. Link income to a dog or litter, attach statements, and export to CSV for taxes.

***

Other Income is where you record money coming into your program that isn't a puppy sale or deposit — stud fees, affiliate commission payouts, referral fees, merchandise sales, training income, and anything else. Logging it here means your [**Income Report**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/reports/income) shows your whole program, not just your invoices.

## What You Can Do Here

* Log income with a date, amount, category, source, and payment method
* Link income to a specific dog or litter (for example, a stud fee to your stud)
* Attach commission statements, receipts, or other files
* See totals for this month, the last 30 days, year to date, and all time
* See where your extra income comes from, grouped by category or by source
* Search, filter by category and date range, and duplicate repeat entries
* Export your full income history to CSV

## How It Works

### Adding Income

1. In the left menu, click **Finances**, then [**Other Income**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/other-income).
2. Click the **Add income** button in the top right. The **Add income** window opens.
3. Fill in the details:
   * **Received date** (required) — when the money arrived
   * **Amount** (required) — must be more than zero
   * **Category** — pick one, or leave it **Uncategorized**
   * **Source** — who paid you (a stud client, an affiliate program, Etsy, etc.)
   * **Payment method** — direct deposit, cash, check, PayPal, etc.
   * **Apply to** — optionally link the income to a dog or a litter
   * **Memo** — a short note to help you find it later
4. (Optional) To attach a statement or receipt, click **Add attachment** under **Attachments & Statements** and pick the file.
5. Click **Save** at the bottom of the window. You'll see an "Income entry created" message, the entry appears in your list, and your totals update.

### Managing Categories

BreederBuddy starts you off with these categories: **Affiliate Commission**, **Stud Fee**, **Referral**, **Merchandise**, **Training**, and **Other**.

1. Click **Categories** (gear icon) on the right, just above your income list. The **Income categories** window opens. (You can also click the gear icon next to the **Category** field while adding income.)
2. To add a category, type a name in the **Category name** box at the bottom, add an optional description, and click **Add category**. You'll see a "Category created" message and it appears in the list.
3. To remove a category, click **Remove** next to it.

### Repeating, Editing, and Deleting Entries

* **Duplicate:** click the copy icon on any row to start a new entry with the same details, dated today. Handy for monthly payouts.
* **Edit:** click **Edit** on a row to change anything.
* **Delete:** click **Delete** on a row, then click **Delete** again in the confirmation window. The entry disappears from your totals and reports.

### Seeing Your Totals

The cards at the top show **This month**, **Last 30 days**, **Year to date**, and **All time**. Click a card to filter the list to that period. The chart below shows where your income comes from — switch between **Category** and **Source** to change how it's grouped. The chart follows whatever date range and filters you have set.

### Exporting

Click **Export CSV** at the top of the page to download your income history. You can also find **Other Income CSV** in [**Document Manager**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/printables).

## Tips & Common Questions

> **Should I log puppy sales and deposits here?**
>
> No — puppy sales and deposits belong on an invoice in [**Finances → Invoices**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/invoices). Other Income is for everything that isn't an invoice.

> **How do I track stud service payments?**
>
> 1. Click **Add income** (top right).
> 2. Set **Received date** and **Amount**.
> 3. Pick the **Stud Fee** category, and type the stud client's name in **Source**.
> 4. Under **Apply to**, pick your male (or the litter it produced).
> 5. Click **Save**. You'll see "Income entry created" and the payment counts in your totals and Income Report.
>
> Paying a stud fee for your own female instead? That's an expense: log it on [**Expenses**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/expenses).

> **How do I record commission income?**
>
> Click **Add income**, pick the **Affiliate Commission** category (or **Referral** for referral checks), put who paid you in **Source**, and save. For affiliate products you've set up in BreederBuddy, the shortcut below fills this in for you.

> **Does Other Income show up in my Income Report?**
>
> Yes — the **Income Report** shows your other income separately, includes it in your total revenue (invoices plus other income), and breaks it down by category.

> **How do I log an affiliate commission payout?**
>
> On [**Affiliate Products**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/affiliate-products), click the money-bag icon (**Record a payout in Other Income**) on the product. BreederBuddy opens **Add income** with the **Affiliate Commission** category and the program already filled in — just add the amount and date.

> **What happens to entries when I remove a category?**
>
> Your existing entries aren't deleted — they still show the category they were logged under. The removed category just won't be offered when you add or edit income.

> **Why do I see ••• instead of amounts?**
>
> Your account owner has chosen to hide totals from team members. The owner can see all amounts.
