# Attachments

> Find, upload, download, and delete every file in BreederBuddy, which photo file types the dog gallery accepts, and whether health record attachments show on your website — health certificates, OFA results, signed contracts, vet records, receipts, and puppy photos — in one searchable attachments library, and check how much storage you've used.

Attachments is your central file library — every document, photo, PDF, and file you've uploaded to BreederBuddy lives here. While files can also be accessed directly from the dog, litter, or contact they belong to, this page gives you a single searchable view across everything you've uploaded.

## What You Can Do Here

* Browse and search all files you've ever uploaded to BreederBuddy
* Filter by file type (images, PDFs, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, video, audio, archives)
* Filter by what a file is attached to (dogs, litters, events, contacts, health records, and more)
* Filter by the date range a file was uploaded
* Sort by upload date, last updated, name, size, or file extension
* Switch between a grid of previews and a detailed list
* View your storage usage
* Upload new files directly from this page

## How It Works

### Browsing Your Files

1. In the left menu, click **Document Manager**, then click [**Your Uploaded Files & Attachments**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/attachments) at the top of the page.
2. Your full file library loads, newest uploads first.
3. In the **Attachment Finder**, use **Search** to find a file by name or description.
4. Use **File types**, **Attached to**, and **Uploaded between** to narrow the list.
5. Click any file to open it, then use **View / Download** or **Download**.

### Uploading Files

Click the dashed box that says **Click to select or drop files here**, or drag files onto it. Files uploaded here start out unattached, so you'll find them under the **Unattached** filter.

### Deleting Files

1. Open [**Your Uploaded Files & Attachments**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/attachments), or the **Attachments** tab on a dog's or litter's profile.
2. Tick the box on each file you want to remove. A count of selected files appears at the top.
3. Click the red **Delete** button. The files are removed.

Use **Deselect All** to clear your selection without deleting anything.

### Filtering by Type

You can filter to show only:

* **Images** — photos and graphics
* **PDFs** — documents, health certs, contracts
* **Documents** — Word files, text files
* **Sheets** — spreadsheets
* **Presentations** — slide decks
* **Video** and **Audio** — media files
* **Archives** — zip files and similar

### Filtering by Linked Record

Use **Attached to** to show only files linked to:

* Dogs or litters
* Events
* Contacts
* Health records
* Galleries
* Expenses
* Signed contracts
* Or **Unattached** files that aren't linked to anything yet

### Storage Usage

A storage bar at the bottom of the page shows how much storage you've used out of your plan's total. If you're running low, consider removing duplicate or outdated files.

## Tips & Common Questions

> **If I delete a file here, does it disappear from the dog or litter it was attached to?**
>
> Yes — deleting a file removes it everywhere it's referenced. Make sure you no longer need it before deleting.

> **Can I upload files directly here instead of from a dog's profile?**
>
> Yes — drop files into the upload box on the Attachments page. They'll show as **Unattached** until you link them to a record.

> **What's the difference between Attachments and Gallery?**
>
> Gallery is for photos you want displayed visually (like a photo album). Attachments is for documents and files. Both are stored here in your file library.

> **Do health records or other attachments show on my website?**
>
> No. Your website only shows the photos in a dog's or litter's **Gallery** tab, and only when that dog or litter is public. Files on the **Attachments** tab (health records, contracts, PDFs, receipts) stay private in your account.

> **What file types can I upload to a dog's Gallery?**
>
> Photos only: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, HEIC (iPhone photos), TIFF, BMP, and AVIF. If you pick other files, BreederBuddy skips them and shows "Please select image files". Videos, PDFs, and documents can still be uploaded on the **Attachments** tab, but they don't appear in the Gallery or on your website.

> **I can't find the Attachments page in the menu. Where is it?**
>
> Attachments doesn't have its own menu item. Click **Document Manager** in the left menu, then **Your Uploaded Files & Attachments** at the top.
