# Co-owners

> Share a co-owned dog with another breeder: invite a co-owner by email so they can view and edit that dog's record, pedigree, and health info, accept or decline co-ownership invites, revoke a pending invite, and save $5/month with referrals. Co-ownership is per dog, so the rest of your program stays private.

Co-owners lets you share full access to a specific dog's record with another breeder. They get to see and edit everything for that dog — pedigree, health, breeding notes, photos — but only for the dogs you invite them on. It's built for joint breeding partnerships where two kennels share a sire, a dam, or another co-owned dog.

* See every dog you're co-managing and who owns it

## How It Works

### Inviting a Co-owner

You can start an invitation from two places.

**From a dog's profile:**

1. Open the dog you want to share from [**Dogs**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/animals) in the left menu.
2. Click the share icon near the top of the profile (it says **Share options** when you hover over it).
3. Choose **Invite co-owner**. The **Invite Co-Owner** window opens.
4. Enter the **Owner Email** and, if you like, the **Kennel / Organization Name**.
5. Click **Send Invite**. You'll see a confirmation that the invite was sent.

**From the Co-owners page:**

1. Open [**Settings → Co-owners**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/settings?tab=co-owners) (under the **Team** group).
2. Click **Share a dog**. The **Invite Co-Owner** window opens.
3. Pick the dog under **Dog**.
4. Enter the **Owner Email** and, optionally, the **Kennel / Organization Name**.
5. Click **Send Invite**. The invite appears under **Co-owner invites you've sent**.

The other breeder gets an email invitation. Once they accept, they have full edit access to that dog. If they're new to BreederBuddy, sign up from that email, and start a paid plan, you each save \$5/month (you can earn it for up to 6 breeders).

### Accepting an Invitation

When another breeder invites you:

1. Open **Settings → Co-owners**.
2. Find the invite under **Co-owner invites you've received**.
3. Click **Accept** to add the dog to your account, or **Decline** to pass.

Accepted dogs show under **Dogs you're co-managing**, with the owner's name and the date you started.

### Revoking a Pending Invite

If you've sent an invite and want to cancel it before it's accepted:

1. Find it under **Co-owner invites you've sent**.
2. Click the trash icon (**Revoke invite**) next to it.
3. Click **Revoke** to confirm.

### Your Referral Link

At the bottom of the Co-owners page is **Your referral link**. Click **Copy invite link** and share it. When a new breeder signs up through it and starts a paid plan, you each save \$5/month for as long as they stay subscribed. You can earn the discount for up to 6 breeders.

## Tips & Common Questions

> **I want a second person to log in to my whole account. Is that a co-owner?**
>
> No. Co-owners share a single dog. To give a partner, family member, or helper their own login to your whole account, invite them as a team member from [**Settings → User Administration**](https://app.breederbuddy.com/settings?tab=user%20administration). To make them a second owner with full control, choose **Admin** next to their name once they've joined. See [Account Settings](https://breederbuddy.com/docs/features/account-team/account-settings.md).

> **What can a co-owner see and do?**
>
> Full access to the shared dog — profile, health certs, pedigree, breeding notes, photos, finances, the works. They can also edit anything. Co-ownership is all-or-nothing per dog.

> **Can I share multiple dogs with the same person?**
>
> Yes — send a separate invite for each dog. The other breeder can accept or decline each one independently.

> **Is a co-owner the same as a buyer or a guardian home?**
>
> No — co-owners are other breeders with shared editing access to a dog. Buyers and guardians are handled through their own contact types and the Buyer Portal.

> **What happens if I want to end a co-ownership?**
>
> Pending invites can be revoked from **Settings → Co-owners**. To end an active co-ownership, reach out through the chat in the bottom right — we'll help you remove the relationship cleanly.

> **I can't find Co-owners in the left menu. Where is it?**
>
> Co-owners lives in **Settings**, under the **Team** group. You can also reach it from a co-owned dog's share menu with **Manage co-owners**.
